No judgement

It is important to remind someone that you are not asking them to stop smoking or doing drugs. You, the PHO, and the TB team are not judging the person’s decisions.

The PHO or nurses might ask questions about someone’s smoking, but these are standard questions they ask about someone’s health.

Knowing your comfort level

This can be a difficult thing to talk about. Know your limit and comfort level. It’s totally normal to ask the nurse for help or to take over this part of the conversation.
